British Sign Language/English Interpreter

Sue originally qualified as Registered British Sign Language/English interpreter in 1997 after completing a two-year full time Post Graduate Diploma at the Centre for Deaf Studies at Bristol University. Her tutors were Clark Denmark, Rachel Sutton Spence, Linda Day, Carolyn Nabarro, Lorna Allsop, Jim Kyle among others.

Her areas of specialism as an interpreter are:

Arts: Performance interpreting in particular contemporary, experimental performance and comedy.

Academia: Sue is currently completing her own PhD in the Literature, Film & Theatre Department at University of Essex

Community: Mental & Physical health

In 2004 Sue completed the NVQ qualification in British Sign Language and Interpreting. At the same time she qualified as an A1 Assessor and has assessed many NVQ Interpreting portfolios. Sue is now a registered supervisor with NRCPD able to offer mentorship and assistance in transitioning from Trainee to Full Registration
